Podskrift (https://podskrift.com) turns podcast audio into private text.
You paste a Spotify episode link, an Apple Podcasts link, or an RSS feed URL,
or search by show/episode name. Podskrift downloads the audio and returns the
full transcript plus timestamped SubRip subtitles (.srt). Transcripts are
private to your account; public show pages list episodes but never publish
transcript text.

is the default, but naming the language beats it on short or accented audio —
Whisper takes the choice as a constraint rather than a hint.

## What it costs
New accounts get 60 minutes of audio free on Podskrift's own OpenAI key.
After that you add your own OpenAI API key and pay OpenAI directly -- roughly
USD 0.36 per hour of audio. There is no subscription and no per-seat pricing.

28 languages, from English, Spanish and Mandarin to Norwegian, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. You can name the language rather than relying on auto-detect, which matters on short or accented audio: Whisper treats the choice as a constraint rather than a hint.

**Is it free?**

New accounts get 60 minutes of audio free. Longer episodes still start free — you get the first 60 minutes as a preview, then buy minutes or add your own OpenAI API key to finish (a 90-minute episode costs about $0.54 at OpenAI's rate). Once the trial is used up, the same options apply. Or buy a one-time pack: $5 for 300 minutes (5 hours), VAT included, paid via Stripe — no subscription.

**Do I need an OpenAI API key?**

Not to start. The free trial runs on ours, including a free preview of the first stretch of a longer episode. Add your own key when the trial runs out and there is no limit beyond what you spend at OpenAI.

**What file formats do I get?**

Plain text (.txt) and SubRip subtitles (.srt) with timestamps.

**Can I transcribe a podcast that is not in the search index?**

Yes. Paste the RSS feed URL instead and pick the episode from the feed.

**Is there an HTTP API?**

Yes. Create a key in Settings (psk_…) and call the API to resolve an episode, start a transcription, then fetch the transcript — Bearer or X-Api-Key. Same 60 minutes free trial as the web UI. Curl examples and status codes: /docs/api.

**Is there a podcast transcript API / get-transcript endpoint?**
